1. Application Overview

Welcome to Koabit, a household management application.

Koabit is a free mobile household management application that allows users to create or join a household and collaboratively manage tasks, events, transactions and members.

By using our application, you agree to be bound by these terms of use. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use the application.

Koabit is developed and operated by Corentin Quichaud, sole proprietor (entrepreneur individuel), registered under SIRET 890 455 389 00027, located at 10 rue Comtesse-de-Ségur, 29200 Brest, France.

2. User Account

To use Koabit, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and a username. You can also manage external members without creating a specific account for them.

By creating an account, you:

• Must be at least 15 years old (or have obtained parental or legal guardian consent)
• Agree to provide accurate and up-to-date information
• Are responsible for the confidentiality of your credentials
• Agree to immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account

3. Main Features

The application allows you to create and manage households. As a user, you can:

• Create a new household
• Join a household by invitation
• Invite other users to your household
• Add and manage tasks, events and transactions
• Connect external calendars (Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook) to synchronize your events
• Import calendar files in ICS format
• Generate a calendar feed URL for subscription from third-party applications
• Synchronize events with your device calendar
• Scan receipts to automatically extract products and prices via artificial intelligence (OpenAI)
• Convert amounts in different currencies
• Benefit from automatic category suggestions for your items
• Remove a user from a household (admin only)
• Manage external members without a user account
• View informative statistics based on household activity

Limitations:

• A household is limited to a maximum of 25 users
• The household administrator can remove members
• In case of removal, the user loses access to all household data

4. External Members

The application allows the management of external members without a user account. This feature:

• Allows users to manage household members without an account
• Is particularly suited for managing children or other members who do not need direct access
• External members' data is managed by household administrators

5. Third-Party Services and Integrations

Koabit may connect to third-party services to enhance its features. By using these integrations, you agree that:

• Connecting to Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook requires OAuth authentication and grants Koabit read-only access to your calendars and events. You can revoke this access at any time from the application or from your Google or Microsoft account settings
• The calendar feed (URL) generates a URL accessible without authentication containing your household events. It is your responsibility to share this URL only with trusted people. You can regenerate or disable this URL at any time
• Receipt scanning and category suggestions use the OpenAI API. Receipt images and item names are transmitted to OpenAI servers for processing. Data is not retained by Koabit after processing
• Currency conversion uses exchange rate data provided by exchangerate.host. No personal data is transmitted to this service

6. Usage Rules

By using Koabit, you agree to:

• Not use the application for illegal or unauthorized purposes
• Not spam or intentionally overload the service
• Not attempt to disrupt the normal functioning of the application
• Respect the rights of other users
• Not share inappropriate or offensive content

7. Service Terms

Koabit is currently provided free of charge, under the following conditions:

• Koabit is provided free of charge. We use reasonable means to ensure the proper functioning of the application, but cannot guarantee permanent availability or the absence of any malfunction. Statutory guarantees under applicable law remain in effect
• We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the service at any time
• We may impose usage limits to ensure service stability
• Features may evolve over time

We make every effort to ensure reliable and secure access to Koabit, but we cannot guarantee continuous availability or the complete absence of errors.

8. Data Loss

It is important to note that:

• Removal from a household results in the immediate loss of access to all data related to that household
• Deleted data cannot be recovered
• We recommend that you back up important information

9. Personal Data

We collect certain personal data to ensure the proper functioning of the application, including your email address, username, authentication data (Google/Apple), usage data, device data, connected calendar data (Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook), receipt images for AI processing, and your device calendar data.

Generated statistics are used for informational purposes only and remain private within your household.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr) if you believe that the processing of your personal data constitutes a violation of the GDPR.

10. Account Deletion and Data Retention

You can delete your account at any time from the application. When your account is deleted, all your personal data is permanently removed from our systems.

11. Intellectual Property

Koabit and all its constituent elements (logo, design, features) are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify you of any substantial changes to these terms by email or in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not accept the new terms, you may delete your account before they take effect.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Koabit shall not be held liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages related to the use of the application.

As Koabit is a free service, our total liability is limited to the maximum extent provided by applicable law.

15. Suspension and Termination

In case of violation of these terms, we reserve the right to suspend or delete your account, with reasonable notice except in cases of emergency.

You will be notified by email of the reasons for the decision and the available remedies.

16. Mediation and Dispute Resolution

In accordance with Articles L611-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, in the event of a dispute, you may use the mediation service free of charge.

17. Applicable Law and General Provisions

These terms are governed by French law. Consumers residing in the European Union benefit from the mandatory provisions of the law of their country of residence.

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

In case of discrepancy between language versions, the French version shall prevail.
